Laiemalt juurdus visuaalne antropoloogia millalgi 1940ndatel, kui nimekad antropoloogid Gregory Bateson ja Margaret Mead hakkasid kultuuriuurimises kaamerat rakendama.\u00a0Kuna antropoloogiline l\u00e4henemisviis ainesele ja jutustamisviisid on v\u00e4ga erinevad teleproduktsioonist, on etnograafilisel filmil praegugi dokumentalistikas oma roll. On paratamatu, et teleprodutsent m\u00f5\u00f5dab iga filmiideed l\u00e4htudes konkreetsest telekanalist \u2013 vaatajaskonnast, ajagraafikust, eelarvest \u2013 seades filmidele niiviisi omad piirid.\u00a0Just telefilmidele seatavad paratamatud piirangud andsid paar-kolmk\u00fcmmend aastat tagasi t\u00f5uke esimestele visuaalse antroploogia \u00f5ppekavadele. Antropoloogid said v\u00f5imaluse \u00f5ppida dokumentalistika keelt, kasutama kaamerat ja ise filme monteerima. Programmis on Soomes, Norras, Inglismaal, Jaapanis ja Eestis toodetud filmid. Antrofilme leiab ka p\u00f5hiprogrammist.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Etnograafiline film ja filmiuuendus<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Etnograafilises filmis on kaua aega domineerinud antropoloogi- ja filmitegijakeskne l\u00e4henemisviis. Sellele aitas kaasa ka arusaam, et v\u00e4lise vaatleja abil on v\u00f5imalik saavutada vaadeldavast objektiivne kirjeldus. Paljuski vaatlevale filmikeelele toetuvad etnograafilised filmid said suhteliselt igavate, eriliste kunstiliste ambitsioonideta linateoste maine. Etnograafia \u2013 see on kiretud filmid, mida tuleb vaadata (kaugete) kultuuritavade ja (v\u00f5\u00f5raste) elulaadide tundma \u00f5ppimiseks.\u00a0Tegelikult on etnograafiline ja antropoloogiline film end juba ammu t\u00f5estanud mitmek\u00fclgse ja s\u00fcgavuti mineva dokfilmi suunana, millel on oma eksperimenteerimisjulguses kohati v\u00f5tmeroll dokumentaalfilmi uuenemises.<\/p>\n<p>K\u00e4esoleval Maailmafilmil linastub Stephanie Spray ja Pacho Velezi <em>Manakamana. <\/em>Filmi tootjaks on Harvardi Sensoorse Etnograafia Labor ja film j\u00f5udis eelmisel aastal ka Oscarile kandideerima kvalifitseeruvate sajakonna dokumentaalfilmi hulka. Filmikriitikud p\u00e4rjasid seda h\u00fc\u00fcetega nagu \u201eaasta kohustuslik kinematograafiline kogemus\u201c. Staatilise kaameraga k\u00f6israudteevagunis filmitud lugu on \u00fchtaegu nii vaatlev kui \u00e4\u00e4rmiselt eksperimentaalne film sellest, kuidas k\u00f6israudtee Nepali palver\u00e4ndurid Himaalajas p\u00fcha m\u00e4e otsas asuvasse templisse ja sealt tagasi toimetab. Sedam\u00f6\u00f6da, kuidas aeglaselt kulgev reisijategalerii t\u00e4ieneb, muutub film neile, kes s\u00fcveneda jaksavad, j\u00e4rjest haaravamaks. Meditatiivses korduvuses on teravmeelsust ja huumorit. Kahetunnine film paikneb kuskil <em>cin\u00e9ma v\u00e9rit\u00e9<\/em>, etnograafilise filmi ja ehk ka kunstiinstallatsiooni vahepeal. Viimastel aastatel on tugevalt esile t\u00f5usnud ka koost\u00f6\u00f6l ja osalusel p\u00f5hinevad antropoloogilised dokid. Kuigi selline filmitegemine on pigem uudne, ei maksa unustada, et filmitavate osalusest visuaalne antropoloogia m\u00f5nes m\u00f5ttes alguse saabki. N\u00e4iteks kasutas seda filmiklassik Robert Flaherty tehes filmi <em>Nanook of the North. <\/em>Filmi tehes n\u00e4itas ta v\u00f5tteperioodil filmisalvestusi pidevalt ka portreteeritavatele inuitidele.<\/p>\n<p>Osalusel ja koost\u00f6\u00f6l p\u00f5hinevate filmide juurde hakkasid antropoloogilised filmitegijad tagasi j\u00f5udma 1960ndate l\u00f5pus. 1972. aastal tehti klassikaks saanud film <em>Through Navajo Eyes <\/em>(re\u017e Sol Worth ja John Adair). Filmi autorite eesm\u00e4rk oli uurida navaho indiaanlaste enda kultuurin\u00e4gemist ja teha see filmi vahenditega k\u00e4ttesaadavaks ka l\u00e4\u00e4ne vaatajaile. Kuigi sellega p\u00f6\u00f6rati selg toonasele arusaamale etnograafilisest filmist, oli tulemus l\u00e4\u00e4ne vaatajatele ilmselt siiski harjumatu, olid siis selle p\u00f5hjuseks pikad stseenid, kus vaataja sai j\u00e4lgida vaid k\u00f5ndimist v\u00f5i miski muu.<\/p>\n<p>Maailmafilmi visuaalse antropoloogia programmis on m\u00f5ned t\u00e4nap\u00e4evased filmitavatega koost\u00f6\u00f6s s\u00fcndinud filmid. Esimene neist t\u00f5estab, et kasu on kahepoolne. Antropoloog Martin Gruber (Saksamaa) tegi koost\u00f6\u00f6d k\u00fclakogukonnaga Angolas ja nende koost\u00f6\u00f6film <em>Mesi<\/em> r\u00e4\u00e4gib metsmesilaste pidamisest Angola keskosas, kus mesi on t\u00e4htis sissetulekuallikas. Mesilasepidamisest filmi tehes otsustasid kogukonna esindajad nii seda, mida, keda ja kuidas filmida kui ka seda, kuidas filmitud materjal looks kokku panna. See pikkadel antropoloogilistel v\u00e4lit\u00f6\u00f6del ja radikaalsel osalusel p\u00f5hinev film kirjeldab filmitegija jahimeheks saamise initsiatsioonir\u00e4nnakut, mille k\u00e4igus ta omandab \u00f5petaja kaasabil jahiteadmisi. Jahimehel on sealses kultuuris eriline t\u00e4htsus. Ta ei ole vaid loomade tapja, vaid ka ravija, amuletimeister ja rituaaliasjatundja. See on etapp filmitegemises, kus tekib p\u00f5him\u00f5tteline vahe lihtsa t\u00f5sielutelevisiooni ja filmitegemise kui antropoloogia vahel.
